Invent an Alien: A Free Coloring and Story Prompt
Use one original alien coloring page to invent a creature, give its four patches a purpose, and imagine its home planet.
This alien arrives with a blank story. Its four round body patches could be pockets, lights, badges, or something nobody on Earth has seen. Rather than telling children what each part means, this one-page activity lets them make the rules and color their own version.
The creature is an original BoysColor design, not a character from a show or game. The free black-and-white sheet is below; the colorful image above is only a cover illustration. A separate Creative Fabrica collection appears later for families who want more alien drawings.
Ask three design questions
Start with the drawing instead of a long backstory. A child can answer aloud, point, or simply color. If they enjoy naming things, write their answers on the back of the printed page after the artwork is finished.
- What do the four round patches do?
- Does the alien live under the surface or beside the little dome?
- What would it say when it sees the spaceship?
Free invent-an-alien coloring page
Color the four patches in a pattern or give each one a different job. The open spaces around the creature leave room for a new planet feature, a flag, or a second tiny spaceship. There is no “correct” alien anatomy: this is imaginative play.
- Pick a main color for the creature.
- Draw a different symbol or pattern inside each patch.
- Add one detail to the planet and tell a one-sentence story.

Make a tiny creature card
